【Abstract】 A new species of frogs has been found by the writers from collecting field tripsto Dongzhang, Fuqing Xian, and Gushan, Fuzhou. The diagnosis of this new speciesis given in the following: Rana minimus Ting et Ts’ai, sp. nov. HOLOTYPE No. 58001, adult male; type locality: vicinity of Lingshi Monastery,Dongzhang, Fuqing Xian, alt. 300 m; September 10, 1958.ALLOTYPE No. 58002, adult femalei collected with the holotype. PARATYPES 8?, 1? and tadpoles eollected with the holotype; 16?, 12?, eggsand tadpoles collected from Gushan, Fuzhou, alt. 500m, November 1963, April-Septem-ber 1977 and June 1978. DIAGNOSIS This new species of Rana is closely related to those of the Hyloranagroup. Digital tips are not dilated and only the tips of toes have horseshoe-shapedgrooves. But the body lengths of either adult males or females are not over 32mm.The skin on back has many minute warts and several discontinuous longitudinal ridges,but dorso-lateral folds are absent. There are also 2--3 rows of shorter ridges on eachside of the body. The male has paired subgular internal.vocal sacs. There is no glandon the base of the upper arm or behind the shoulder. Nuptial pads are inconspicuous. The tadpole has many small transparent round granules under the skin of thewhole body, and has also 4--6 larger granules arranged in a longitudinal row on eachside of the back. In formalin-preserved specimens, these granules are whitish in color. Type specimens are preserved in the Department of Biology, Fujian Normal Uni-versity, Fuzhou.更多还原
