【Abstract】 The term rest curve was first used by O. Yeraguth. .The study of such curvo in neurotics is up to now very scanty, although much work has been done with various methods by both psychologists and psychiatrists. As the rest curve represents the basic line of galvanic phenomena of the subject, the study is of prime importance for further analysis of clinical and psychological peculiarities of the patient.The present research dealts only with the continuous electric changes of neurasthenics in psycho-neurosis group. We used the Wechsler’s psychogalvanograph on the simple circuit with no external current. 100 neurasthanics of both gex aged 16 to 44 were used as subjects, and 20 normal adults as control group. The psychogal-vanic phenomena of each subject was recorded in one sitting of 25 minutes. The experiment was carried in silence, the exprimenter gave no external stimulus; the subject’s mental set in this experiment was simply waiting in alterness.The results of this investigation showed that the rising tendency of the average curve of the patients during the experimental course is more significant than those of the control group. Many patients showed great irregularities in their curves and the amplitude from galvanometer deflections on the curve is also very high. There was also a few patients who gave almost a straight line, very similar to the normal sleep curve. According to the characteristics of the curve obtained, all patients could be divided into 4 groups. Three of which seem to have close similarity with the clinical types of neurasthenia of Ivanov-Smolensky. The clinical pictures of the other group of patient are mixed, therefore further investigations are needed.
