【Abstract】 Gorgetless specimens of the orange-gorgetted flycatchers (Ficedula strophiata Hodgson) have been collected from various places in Szechwan. They may be referred, as far as morphological characteristics are concerned, to F. strophiata asema of Deignan. But in view of the fact that the gorgetless as well as the orange-gorgetted specimens occur in the same localities during their breeding season, and further that the gorgetless specimens so far secured are all found to occur within the distributional range of the orange-gorgetted flycatchers, the authors are of the opinion that the gorgetless and the orange-gorgetted specimens may probably represent different formae rather than different subspecies, unless there is evidence to the effect that the two differ from each other ecologically and in distributional patterns, or actually reproduce separately, and may thus represent two sibling species.更多还原
