中国现代小说史书写研究

【摘要】 论文以“中国现代小说史”这一特定书写活动作为探讨对象,采取以“个案”带“问题”的方式,通过对夏志清、陈平原、杨联芬三位学者“中国现代小说史”书写实践的描述与分析,围绕以下三个关键词——“小说”史,小说“史”,“现代”——展开探讨:1,作为体裁史的“小说”史,如何区别于普通的文学史书写?2,作为文学史之一部门的“小说史”,如何处理“文学性”与“历史性”的关系?3,中国现代小说史的“现代性”有哪些理解和叙述的途径?论文一方面将以上问题落实到三位学者具体的学术语境中,考查各自的学术史贡献和隐含的文化政治涵义;另一方面注重个体独特性的阐发,对他们呈现问题的特有方式、学术思维形成的内在脉络进行细微追索。 在各章节中,具体讨论以下问题:夏志清的《中国现代小说史》中“文学批评系统”的辨析,“人的文学”观念中“艺术与人生”的困扰;陈平原的“述学文体”形成的学术脉络,从文学的系统内部观察社会、政治等外缘因素,实现“内”“外”沟通的文学史叙述视角;杨联芬在中国现代小说史中“非审美的审美关系”的发现及在文学与历史的张力场中展开的文学史叙述等。如此,在“历史化”、“脉络化”的个案研究中力图呈现新时期以来中国现代小说史书写图景,以实现宏观研究与微观研究的平衡。

【Abstract】 Through the descriptions and analyses about the three important authors in the history of Chinese modern novels: Xia Zhiqing, Chen Pingyuan, and Yang Lianfen, this thesis is trying to research into the three factors: novel, historical, and modern characteristics of the essence and significance of the history of Chinese modern novels. It takes the three authors as examples to discuss the following questions: 1. As a literary genre, what differentiates novels from other forms of literature? 2. As one of the literary history, on what sides does the history of novels present its historical and literary characteristics respectively? 3. In what ways can the modern characteristics of the history of Chinese modern novels be interpreted? In this thesis, the above three questions are to be discussed in the contexts of the three authors in terms of their contributions to the literary history and their connotative significances culturally and politically. In addition, sufficient attention is also to be paid to their individuality, the individual perspectives of philosophy, the academic logic of their thinking.In details, the chapters are to be devoted to the following aspects as far as the three authors are concerned: analysis on the literary criticism by Xia Zhiqing in The History of Chinese Modern Novels and his obsessions of "art and life" in "Man’s Literature", the formation of Chen Pingyuan’s literary style of "narration and commentary" and his literary perspective of looking at the outside social and political factors from the inside literary world and thus to connect both sides of the literary history, and Yang Lianfen’s findings of "non-aesthetic relations in aesthetics" in Chinese modern literary history. In this way, the thesis is trying to present a whole picture of the history of Chinese modern novels of the new age by way of a detailed examination into the three cases historically and systematically and thus balance the microcosmic and macroscopic factors of literary history research.
