尺牍书法:从形制到艺术

【摘要】 尺牍是古代士大夫文人之间交往的重要内容和必要手段,它综合反映着不同时期的社交礼仪,又凝结着书写者个人的审美创造。尺牍与礼制礼俗结合,是谓之书仪,书仪最终通过书写和作品书迹表现出来,是谓之书法形制。本文以所见自简牍以来的尺牍书法遗迹图像为中心,结合相关的历史和艺术文献,用“二重证据法”对古代尺牍书迹中的书仪与形制,形制与艺术之间的动态关系进行了一次比较全面的考察。作者认为,书迹作为文献,它本身隐藏着较一般书仪更为鲜活的时代内容。对其形制的探讨,既可以解决尺牍作品中相关的文本问题,又可以触及尺牍书法的某些内在成因,还能丰富传统书仪和文书研究的内容;尺牍书法作为艺术,首先是形制赋予了它形式上的美感,完全脱离形制的艺术在尺牍书法中是不存在的。相较而言,书法形制要求体现“合理”和“尽善”,而艺术则强调“合式”与“尽美”,尽善尽美,是形制与艺术合目的性的不同要求,尺牍书法的发展正是在功能与艺术的矛盾互动中寻觅一种平衡,尺牍书法艺术是“理”与“式”的完美统一体。形制与艺术之间的这种关系,体现着中国书法的文化特色,是我们理解古代尺牍书法乃至其它书法类型的一把钥匙。
【Abstract】 The epistle is a carrier of the information and means of dissemination in Chinese ancient society. For the feudal intelligentsia and officialdom, the epistle’s diction and calligraphy are the arena on which they can show their remarkable talent enjoyably. Toward to calligraphy, the senior and junior Wangs had written letters became classical calligraphy modles, and determined the development of later ages. As this point, the history of chinese calligraphy is a history of epistolary calligraphy in fact.“All sorts of beauty is from the aesthetic feeling of its form.”The epistle’s handwriting works as transmitting the form’s aesthetic periception, carring the language’s narrative function and incarnating the both sides’communical common customs. The version of epistle reflects the etiquette and cermony of the feudal social honour and lowness, the King and courtier, the high and low level, the high and low lever, the close or distant relationship, that is called epistolary docorums. The letter’s regulations are just the activities of epistolary docorums in writing, and synthesize two sides’characters of the epsitle docorums and calligraphy. However, one side, this kind of written regulations are always reglected by researchers in fact. The other side, the intension of the regulations aare strained by the study fellow of calligraphy. Only a overcate of shape is there. The epistolary penmanship is a uneverable form in most people’s view in todays. The cultural traction of epsitle which has more than 2,000 years history is fading away now. The study’s purpose of the relationship between the epsitolary regulations and artistry is to return to the original conditon of epsitolary calligraphy, and reveal the plentiful cultural intension.This paper connects the regulations of epistle in the communical field and the form of artistry. And“dual testimonies”, which combines the graph material of epistotral objects with the records in documents. With this means to excavate the containable regulational factors and elucidate the regularial phenoment about regulations. Meanwhile, the paper also analyses the influence which the regulations work on the callgraphy. In a word, the versions and handwritting in the paper are both
